Reporting Structure

Reporting to: Head of Risk & Compliance Supervision of: Assistant Manager Compliance, Market & Credit Officer, Operational Risk Officer Interact with: Clients, Vendors & Employees

Main Duties

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To effectively manage the following functions: Operational Risk, Market Risk, Credit Risk, and Compliance Risk together with an independent oversight of Asset and Liability management.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To ensure that operational risk framework and operational policies are implemented in the country and that potential operational risks are identified, measured, monitored and managed

  • To manage compliance risks such that the bank does not breach any Group, Country or Regulatory limits/ requirements

  • Measuring of market risk to determine whether the risk and profit and loss are related.

  • To have an independent risk oversight of the Asset and Liability function

  • Ensure that credit risk is appropriately managed through risk grading, adherence to lending limits, sector concentration limits and reporting on non- performing loans and provisioning

  • To report on overall country risk status to management, board and Group.

  • Prepare monthly risk submissions

    DUTIES:

    a) Liquidity Risk:
  • Ensure that limits and guidelines are abided by as discussed in Interest rate and liquidity policy and standards.

  • Ensure that the reported liquidity and interest rate risk information is correct and accurate

  • Ensure that the Treasury manages interest rate positions on an ongoing basis.

  • Ensure that interest rate shocks are current as prescribed by the procedural document (To be provided by ALCO)

  • Review systems, models, assumptions and parameters used for modeling liquidity risk according to a procedure document (To be provided by ALCO)

  • Ensure that Special Dealing Authority is in place in the event of a lack of liquidity in the market.

  • Ensure that contingency plans to mitigate liquidity risk are current, accurate and approved by Board

  • Ensure that liquidity stress tests are current as prescribed by the procedural document (To be provided by ALCO)

b) Market Risk:

  • Ensure that lending limits are adhered to and top 10 credit exposures are within thresholds set by the country’s credit committee and sector concentration limits are adhered to.

  • Ensure that adequate provisions are made for non- performing loans and the level of provisions are reported appropriately.

  • Ensure that market rates database is maintained on a daily basis

  • Ensure that the overall bank and treasury stays within regulatory limits set by BOT.

  • Ensure that the overall risk of Bank is within the limits approved by ALCO

  • Ensure that all limits and guidelines are documented, current and readily accessible.

  • Ensure that all single name exposures do not exceed more than 25% of capital and report to the Head of Risk & Compliance

c) Credit Risk:

  • Ensure that each counterparty is rated by the Risk Grade system and that the ratings are current and updated in the system

  • Ensure that lending limits are adhered to and top 10 credit exposures are within thresholds set by the country’s credit committee and sector concentration limits are adhered to.

  • Ensure that adequate provisions are made for non- performing loans and the level of provisions are reported appropriately

    d) Operational Risk:

  • Insure Risk & Control Self-Assessment are completed bi-annually and action plans tracked

  • Ensure key risk indicators are completed on a monthly basis and the key trends appropriately addressed.

  • Ensure that all incidents are reported by the Risk Officer in charge of operational risk to Head of Operations and incidents with financial implications are written to either suspense losses or irrecoverable losses.

  • Ensure that disaster recovery testing is conducted and the results communicated to Management Risk Committee.

  • Ensure that fraud incidents are tracked on a monthly basis to ensure sufficient attention is focused on reducing incidences and causal analysis undertaken.

  • e) Compliance & Corporate governance Risk

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and proper communication to staff in case of any change in regulation be it new or amended.

  • Ensure that the directors have the independence in discharging their duties in transparency and that the process is also in compliance best practice.

f) Money Laundering Control, KYC and Legal Risk

  • Ensure all staff are trained on money laundering control and KYC

  • Ensure that the legal risk is managed within limits

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • General knowledge of risks related to the business

  • Proficiency in computer packages including Excel, Powerpoint, Word

  • Project management skills
